EU LAB - Interactive workshops on preparation and management of EU funded projects for the regional development in the Centre for EU and International Cooperation.

In autumn 2015, Istria Region launched a cycle of workshops on EU funded project covering four main topics and targeted to the Croatian stakeholders (civil servants from local and regional authorities, SMEs, students and experts in EU projects).

The workshop were organised in the framework of the project AdriGov (IPA Adriatic CBC Programme) at the Center for EU and International Cooperation in Bale (Croatia) which was established by the Istria Region to train the stakeholders of the Adriatic area. The center has covered a wide range of different workshops, trainings and seminars in the last 3 years.

The cycle of education “EU LAB - European Laboratory” arranged in Pula in October and November 2015 consisted in four workshops covering the following themes:

1.EU-Funded Projects in the sectors of Tourism and Culture;
2.EU-Funded major and infrastructure projects;
3.EU-Funded Projects for SMEs;
4.EU-Funded Projects in the sector of Agriculture and Rural development.

The cycle of education had the aim to improve the knowledge and skills of representatives of the involved local and regional authorities in the scope of EU funds. The LAB consisted in practical examples from different funding programmes with practical exercises and opened discussions among trainers and participants.

The thematic areas have been identified as the most important for the regional development for the Istria Region.

All the workshop took place in two days, involving a total number of 90 participants.

Specifically the four workshops can be described as following:

1) Workshop “EU-Funded Projects in the sectors of Tourism and Culture”
The aim of this workshop was to introduce the specific EU instruments and programmes in the field of culture and tourism, analyzing the funding opportunities of various EU funds and through examples of concrete projects and good practices already implemented. The workshop was attended by 28 participants from the local authorities, associations, agencies, public institutions civil society of the Region.

2) Workshop “EU-Funded major and infrastructure projects”
The second workshop took place on 26 October 2015 at the Center for EU and international co-operation in Bale. It approached the topic of infrastructure projects and their necessary documentation touching also the topic of the major projects. It was attended by 18 participants.

3) Workshop “EU-Funded Projects for SMEs”
The third workshop took place on 29 and 30 October 2015 at the Center for EU and international co-operation in Bale. The workshop presented the EU policies which support the entrepreneurship, different EU programmes, measures and opportunities for SMEs.
The workshop addressed also some specifics projects for small and medium enterprises. Specific EU programmes have been introduced and analyzed in details. The different funding opportunities was presented to the participants (entrepreneurs, development agencies, chamber of commerce). The workshops were attended by nearly 16 participants from the public and the private sector.

4) Workshop on EU-Funded Projects in the sector of Agriculture and Rural development.
The last workshop of EU LAB on EU projects took place on 5 and 6 November 2015 in the Centre for EU and international co-operation in Bale. The theme was the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the rural development and the EU opportunities for the agricultural sector in general. The workshop was designed in such a way: the first day was entirely addressed to the public sector, while the second day was mainly targeted to the private sector. The workshop was attended by 28 participants.

I-KEY: Istrian Knowledgeable and Experienced Youth

Through the duration of the project 161 participants has been involved in project activities, first in the workshops through training, but also through practice on real business projects and volunteering in NGOs. Those have for sure improved their knowledge, and they have acquired high quality skills that will help them in their first employment. At the end it reached the number of 161 candidates out of 120 foreseen, 44 were participants of male gender and 117 of female gender. Also 37 participants were members of various minorities of the Istrian region.
Beside the first Training sessions on CV writing, motivational skills, organization management, role play courses, etc., 30 most active candidate gat the opportunity to be educated in the Intense program for business trainees (IPBT). IPBT was a tailor-made courses and trainings of the most important business knowledge and skills while simultaneously working on 4 different real-world business projects. With the help of the Foundation, and the selfless help of four institutions: "Arena Moda" from Pula, the "Casa di Matiki" - agro tourism from Žminj, Discotheque "Jimmy Woo", and the Administrative Department for Economy of the Istrian County participants have gained practical experience and insight into the real operations, which will be of great importance for their first job. Furthermore, 43 candidates had the opportunity to participate in the voluntary program, which beside philanthropy is the fundamental principle of the Foundation. For them 43 that was a quality work experience that will surely help them in finding their first job and a great asset for future employers.
Also many other activities have been made. Web portal (www.ikey.com.hr) where anyone can find new info about employment, about the project and project partners, job offers, upload a CV or search the CV database. To further strength the contacts between young people and public and private companies, and provide an office for counseling the unemployed youth had opened a contact office in the City of Vodnjan.
Dissemination activities were a vital part of the project and the tool for reaching the candidates, business sector representatives and the wide public.

In addition to partners and their contribution to the project an added value was given from the Associates: Chamber of economy, Regional office Pula, Croatian Employment Service, Regional office Pula, the University of Pula, Towns Buje, Pazin, Pula and Buzet, and many other institutions such as high schools, open universities, media and others. That gave us their expertise, facilities and help in reaching the target group.

Seminar on employment regarding cultural heritage

During the first session different issues were dealt with. The first approach considered was the relationship between museums and heritage, in particular the issue of strategic planning, taking as an example for this purpose the model followed by the Museo Provincial of Málaga. The second conference related to possible architectural interventions in exhibition spaces; the third talk discussed on the importance and ways of functioning of interactive museums and their specificities. Finally the fourth talk dealt with communication strategies used by cultural institutions: how to analyze, elaborate, design, develop, plan, advise and assess.
As far as the second session is concerned, the case of an exhibition commissioner was analyzed. Also the ways of managing itinerant exhibitions and employment modalities were equally explained.
Finally, the idea of corporative image, communication tools and public image of cultural institutions in general, and museum in particular, were analyzed, as well as the new role played by TICs, social networks and innovation as far as culture, heritage and tourism are concerned.

Introduction to webdoc

The course dealt with webdoc as a new tool for employment and a new business line from an introductory point of view. It focused on interactive webdoc, new employment possibilities in this sector and an update as far as the audiovisual production sector is concerned from a global point of view. The course was taught by a documentary film director and director of a film production company.
Theoretical sessions touched upon the following issues:
1. Introduction: state of the art concerning interactive documentary at a national and international level.
2. Main trends in this area.
3. The WebDoc in Spain
4. Creative and technological development
5. Interactive documentary as a new business line
6. Possibilities of financing WbDoc projects

THEFT AND BURGLAR PREVENTION AND INVESTIGATION WITH CITIZEN HELP AND INFORMATION

The "Observer Neighborhood" is a large number of volunteers who share information with local authorities of our city (by phones (SMS) on the safety & protection, warnings, tips and events.
The aim is to raise public awareness on the prevention of crime, citizen safety and property is expected to have the effect of reducing crime and increasing the feeling of security.
Priority is given to preventing crimes against property that is theft, burglary, and robbery, which in recent years have increased.
The "Program" was implemented and operates from 04 July 2011 to the Municipality Warehouse with great success in reducing crime by 30% After the successful results from implementing the program, it was decided to apply to the whole of Cyprus. Heretofore has been applied to another 5 municipalities. This year has adopted this institution and the Municipality Geri.
Eg The Municipality has identified Dali stolen car in 10 minutes. They help to arrest one burglar spirals have made 56 burglaries jewelery (worth 500 thousand. Euros) in the whole of Cyprus over the past three years. (They were identified in 24 hours).
We all feel proud because we are the first Mediterranean country to have managed to implement the program of "Observer Neighborhood" successfully.

Course on teaching how to become a trainer, an on-line trainer and a training manager

The course is structured into three different parts. The first part is devoted to the goal of teaching trainers. In this regard the programme approaches a number of key topics: a) elements related to educational background design and learning process; b) levels of intervention as far as learning process' plannig is concerned; c) realtionship between learning and work; d) selection of didactic resources; e)autonomous learning and its supervision; f) strategies for market orientation of the learned contents; f) elaboration of a learning/teaching plan; g) self-employment; h) woring team formation and motivation.

The second group of aspects (teaching trainers) dealt with are the following: a)e-learning processes and elements included; b) activities to be carried out by a e-learning processes and ways of evaluating them; c) outlook, email, websites, on-line platforms, interfaces and social networks.

The third group of aspects deals with: a) organization of information; b) managing training projects and programmes; c) evaluating training programmes and projects; d) marketing of the contents learned/to be learned.

Campaign "good treatment" against gender violence

The course is carried out through weekly sessions with young people over 18. The main tool used is theatre, so the participants are given some basic tools in order to produce a theatre play. Once the play is conceived they keep on rehearsal for a number of session. Then the story is finally played before the audience. Therefore the course consist of a theatre workshop which runs all along the academic year. Sessions take place once per week. Two institutions co-operate in this vocational training: the University of Málaga and NGO Al-Sur. It is a unique preventive activity.
They start with a detailed observation of the surrounding reality and then an in-depth analysis of this scourge. On the basis of the results and conclusions attained they will write the play.
It is a collective job: all participants exchange their points of view<, they collectively decide the main topic for the play and proceed to write the play also collectively. The fact of using theater as a tool is a very innovative idea. Those taking part in this workshop are engaged in an experience that make them to travel from mistreatment and violence to best practices in good treatment as far as gender equality is concerned. Participants are in charge of writing a theatre play and of doing the necessary rehearsal in order to finally play it in a professional theatre of the city of Málaga.

The course was developped along two days (Friday evening and Saturday morning) and it took 12 hours. Only 50 candidates were accepted, although there was a big demand.
Theoretical as well as practical sessions took place.The contents were distributed as follows:
1. Relaxation, breathing and vocal sounds production
2. Correct ways of producing and articulating the voice
3. Different kind of voices. Ways of classifying them.
4. Vooal possibilities of each voice
5. Interpretation of a chosen vocal repertoire
Although theretical explanations were included in the course, methodology was eminently practical, uniting individual vocal work and practice and colective vocal work. Practical exercises of vocal techniques were profusely used.

Creativity in infant school classrooms

There is a worry as far as infant education in Spain is concerned: how to improve results of these youngest students but, first of all, how to prepare their minds in order them to be more productive in the next educational stages.
In this regard the course starts with an introduction to the concept of creativity and its very positive potential effects when applied to education, in particular to earlier stages of the educational process. Participants are, therefore, taught about the concept of creativity either from a theoretical and from a practical point of view.
The course addresses the issue of what is meant by "creative infant school", considering in this vein not only the different existing theories but also which kind of practices can be followed in order to transform infant school in a truly creative school.
The third group of sessions deals with the concept of "creative curricula". In this regard, these sessions approach the next educational stages and to which extent creativity developped in infant school provides the child with practical techniques able to model his or her mind in order to better grasp more elaborated concepts in later learning stages. Departing from this reasoning, some sessions approach how to build up a creative curricula either for the student (child) and for the teacher.
Finally, the fourth group of sessions deals with promoting creativity in infant school through the application of new information and comunication technologies and innovative techniques as far as teachers' curricula is concerned.

Introduction to Flamenco

The course main purpose was to introduce flamenco as an art expression to all participants. In this regard its programme approached some preliminary concepts to be learnt in order to understand this cultural phenomenon. Departing from this point, sessions held dealt with the following topics:
- Defining Flamenco and Flamenco Science (Flamencología)
- History and origins of flamenco music and flamenco culture, as well as influences along history on this art expression; myths traditionally and historically associated to flamenco
- Different flamenco musical forms: aspects with regard to melody and with regard to rythm
- Songs coming from from general floklore and songs coming from specific kind of jobs
- Different styles concerning two particular forms of flamenco songs: the "soleá" and the "seguiriya"
- Different styles concerning two particular forms of flamenco songs: the "tango", the "tanguillos" and other derived flamenco musical forms
- Different styles concerning one particular form of flamenco songs, the "fandango": "malagueñas"; "granadinas" and "songs from Levante (east)"
- Different styles of flamenco songs and flamenco music related to Latin America and other Spanish areas different from Andalusia
- Final workshop: live music: performance of flamenco guitar music and flamenco singing.
